Reception Spaces

Now that the ceremony has been booked, it's time to figure out where your reception is going to be. If you didn't pick one of our wedding venues for both your ceremony and reception and are having them at separate locations, check out the list below to begin your search for a reception space. Whether you're having an outdoor wedding, formal church ceremony, or a one-of-a-kind underground union, bring your guests together to party and raise their drinks to your happiness at any of the venues below. Choose all-inclusive, go for burlap-and-lace, country chic, or stick to something smaller and pop a tent for your guests outside and celebrate by the Shenandoah River. No matter what you decide, your reception can be as unique as the two of you are.

Ceremony Sites

Looking for the perfect place to say “I Do” - look no further! Below are the wedding venues in and around Page County. Whether you're looking for something large so your friends and family can go all out and dance the night away, a quaint elopement just the two of you and an officiant along the Shenandoah River, or something right in between, Luray and Page County have the perfect venue to make your dreams come true. As no wedding is the same, the type of wedding venue that will fit the two of you is something that only you all can decide, so we highly recommend making appointments and touring a bunch of them to see what fits your personalities. Start your search below and find the perfect venue for your guest list, location, and price range.

Rehearsals/Rehearsal Dinners

It's time to practice - gather the bridal party, immediate family, coordinator, officiant, and anyone else who needs to know how things are going to go on your big day and do your run-through. Some of the local venues are only available for day-of decoration and use, so make sure your group can sit down and discuss your vision thoroughly beforehand. If you're bringing in a day-of coordinator, make an appointment on a weekday and ask him/her to stop by with you so you can review everything you need from them and your timeline for the caterer, cake, and other services so they know what is expected of them. If you've chosen a venue that you can rent for back-to-back days, the rehearsal will be a great time for you to stage the whole ceremony so your attendees know where they're supposed to stand and be throughout the proceedings.

Eat, Drink, & Get Ready to be Married!

Once you've got your details figured out and your bridal party is ready to make your dreams come true - it's time to party! Invite the bridesmaids, bridesmen, groomsmen, groomsmaids, ushers, ring bearer, flower girl, officiant, and the parents and head out for food and drinks to celebrate your last day/night of singledom. Keep it lively swapping stories of the bride and groom and having some laughs about your time together. Keep it easy on yourselves, while this is traditionally the groom's parents’ contribution, now-a-days that's not necessarily the case and this might be another line item on your budget. A lot of people like renting out a room at a restaurant in town so they don't have to worry about the cooking or cleaning and can instead focus on their friends and family. If that doesn't fit what you're looking for, talk to your caterer to see if they have a recommendation.

Below are the venues that offer rehearsal spaces and a list of our favorite restaurants for rehearsal dinners.

Testimonials

Khimaira Farm

From Dan Chen, photographer: “I absolutely loved shooting at Khimaira Farm and felt like it was one of the best reception sites I’ve ever photographed.”

From a Couple: “We were looking for an alternative to the high dollar wedding, due to both the economy as well as the practical impossibility of gathering family and friends scattered nationwide. We remembered our visits to Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley and stumbled upon this beautiful South Court Inn Bed & Breakfast quite by accident online. We knew immediately this was the right place for us.”

From a Bride: “Thank you seems so little to say as I look back at all you did to help make our wedding so gloriously perfect. When the day actually finally arrived, you made us all feel right at home and that immediately set my mind at ease. I can’t believe all the support and help you gave us all along the way, and how you helped us bring everything together in the end.”

From Parents of the Bride: Jim and I wish to thank you so very much for allowing us the privilege to have Cassie and Danny’s wedding at your heavenly farm. You were tremendous in your generosity, care, attention to detail, and hosting. The most beautiful and fun wedding we have ever been to! I love the area, the warmth of the people and the beautiful mountains.…”

Shenandoah Woods

From a Bride: “I would not believe there is a better venue anywhere! We were the last wedding of the season and it could not have been better. Cabins are well equipped in the kitchen and bathrooms. I cannot say enough good thinks about the space and the staff - ALL TOP NOTCH!!”

From a Bride: “My guests were blown away by the beauty that these spaces offer and how perfect it was for a wedding. Somerset cabin for the welcome dinner, the chapel in the woods for the ceremony, the Pavilion for the reception, the picnic area by the pond for a breakfast send off, and the additional cabins available for guests truly offered the perfect experience for our wedding! I was blown away with everything that was included in the wedding package and how much and for how long we had access to it all.”

From a Groom: “For anyone considering Jason and Shenandoah Woods, please, be smart, and book it. We were just married over Memorial Day weekend, and everything—from first emails, to the first visit (we live in Chicago) to the final day, went perfectly….We loved that there are no mandatory vendors, we loved all the things that came with it (the fire pit, the canoe, the ceremony site, the shuttle service) and most of all, we loved getting the chance to spend the whole weekend with friends and family….The cabins were all gorgeous, our friends and family all said how much they enjoyed getting to spend time with each other even when they couldn't be with us. Let's be clear—there was a lot of planning involved, and you can make it as much a DIY affair as you want. It's not a wedding out of a box. But if you're the type of couple who thinks their friends and family would love the chance to get together regardless of the reason, and are comfortable sharing houses with each other, then you couldn't pick a better spot.”

Why Luray-Page for Love?

Nestled between the Blue Ride and Massanutten Mountains in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, our county combines historic culture, natural beauty, and a friendly atmosphere of days gone by. With the perfect location and best service you could ask for, Page County makes for a perfect wedding destination.

Whether you want a barn backdrop, vineyard view, historic inn, classic church, riverfront ceremony, or an outdoor wedding celebrating the beauty of nature, Luray & Page County is home to the venue to bring your dreams to life. Luray Caverns, the largest and most popular caverns on the East Coast, was discovered in 1878, making it one of the most unique and beautiful places in the county for a wedding venue rich in history. Shenandoah National Park also borders the county on the east and has 500 miles of hiking trails encompassing over 196,000 acres of land with multiple restaurants and banquet rooms for groups to gather. Luray is a central gateway to the 106-mile historic Skyline Drive, which offers magnificent panoramas to create the perfect backdrop for an outdoor lover’s wedding. And, the other wedding venues that call this corner of the Shenandoah Valley home each bring their own unique experience for brides, grooms, and their families and friends. No matter what you decide, the history, natural beauty, and hospitality of the area will truly offer you a wedding/honeymoon destination you will never forget.

Are you looking for something, but don’t see it in any of the categories above? This page is a catch-all for any remaining wedding-related businesses. Including: spa services, printers (to assist with save the dates, invitations, thank yous, and more), travel businesses (can you say honeymoon possibilities!), etc. If you still have questions or can't find what you're looking for, contact the Luray-Page County Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center at (540) 743-3915 or info@luraypage.com for additional reccommendations.

Photographers

Pictures are a great way to memorialize your big day and video is even better. Video allows you to sit back and relive everything in its full detail and glory. Therefore, choosing your team for this aspect of your wedding is very important. Most photographers work in pairs, so be ready to have two people working around you and your guests throughout the ceremony and reception. Additionally, some photographers will offer a photo booth option as an ad-on to your regular photography package. If this is something you’re interested in, talk to each one before you make your final decision.

Moreover, as you’re planning your wedding and deciding on the venue, dress, and flowers begin finding and saving examples of photos you’d like to recreate. Try building a portfolio of all the images you want to be able to look back on after the big day. This will help your photographer customize their package to fit the different scenes, angles, and locations you’re wanting.

Beauty

If one of your bridesmaids or close friends isn’t pulling double-duty to apply and style your hair and makeup, you may be looking for a stylist for your big day. While most of our hair stylists don’t travel, your whole group can make appointments to get your hair done in the salon. Or, skip the salon and contact “I Do” for a talented stylist to come right to your venue with all the tools and techniques to make your big day picture perfect. With limited makeup choices in the county, the team at “I Do” is the full package, providing you with the looks and products you know and love to create the perfect bold, understated, and classic looks you're looking for on your wedding day. Treat yourself to a little pampering for you and the girls and take the stress out of traveling, appointments, and keeping to your schedule, by letting them bring their services to you.

Gifts & Jewelry

Whether you forgot your jewelry at home or are looking for a last minute gift for your bridal party, head downtown to check out our local shops and pick up something to say “Thank You.” If you have time to prepare and are looking early for a one-of-a-kind souvenir, consider making it yourself. Work with one of our local artisans to make the perfect wedding memento for your bridal party, parents, or all of your guests such as handmade medallions, jewelry, or a hand-painted silk scarf in your wedding colors. No matter what you’re looking for, our shopkeepers have something to suit your needs.

Flowers & Décor

Some say the flowers set the mood of a wedding. Go overboard to create a floral wonderland, keep it simple and understated, or find a middle ground to suit you. Choose your favorites and fillers to complement those choices. Flowers are a great way to decorate your ceremony and reception spaces and make wonderful centerpieces for your cocktail and reception tables. If you’re trying to stay within a budget, try ordering flowers that are in-season to keep the total price down and bulk up with greenery. If you absolutely have to have a particular type, talk to your florist to see how they can fit both vision and budget.

More than flowers, you may find yourself needing additional décor, chairs, tableware, tents, and more. Rentals can help you jazz up your ceremony and/or reception venue to fully portray the atmosphere and theme you’re looking for for your wedding. Some businesses offer the basics or just one aspect of décor necessary to pull your look together, while others rent out all the furniture you need to stage a scene for photos or to provide smaller seating areas for your guests during the cocktail hour and reception. It’s very important to begin creating a list of what items and styles you’re looking for and how you want it arranged so when you contact a rental company you’ll know exactly what to ask for to determine the rental expenses to add to your budget. You can also talk to your wedding coordinator and caterer to see what they have available or for further recommendations.

Event Planning and Coordinating

Blending your vision with your partner’s ideas and then adding in each of your parents/families can be a bit tricky. Let our local planners and coordinators assist you in bringing it all together. Whether you’re considering day-of or something with a little more guidance, planners are a service that most venues highly recommend, if not require, now-a-days.  Work with one of our local event planners to help your wedding dreams become a reality or ask your venue for their preferred list to help make decision making easy. Selecting a right-hand man or woman to keep your schedule on track is great for couples as it allows them to breathe and know that everything is being taken care of.

If you’re looking for someone to marry you and your partner, Page County’s ordained ministers and celebrants are able to assist you in legally binding your lives together in the eyes of the state. Whether you’re looking to elope at the courthouse or have a large white wedding at one of the venues that calls Luray-Page home, the officiants below can assist you with all your wedding needs.

DJs/Entertainment

Music makes the party hop and will make or break the celebratory feeling of your reception. Give your guests something to show off their moves to by picking a DJ that understands what sense you want to portray during your event. Work with your DJ to build a playlist of songs that mean something to you as a couple, your personal favorites, and hits to get your friends and family out on the dance floor. Whether you want all 80s, country, pop, or to open it up to your guests’ requests, find a DJ who will work with you to play exactly what you need.

Looking for live music for the ceremony or to set a soothing tone during the cocktail hour and/or the meal? There are a lot of locals with musical talents. From soloists to organists to classical guitarists to local bands, Luray and Page County has a variety of musicians willing to play and sing at your event.

Catering

Just like the beer, wine, and spirits, the food is one of the most important parts of your reception. Let our local caterers prepare the perfect celebratory meal in honor of your marriage and the years of joy to come. Whether you’re looking for buffet-style or plated, gazpacho or BBQ, our caterers can help you come up with a delicious meal for all your guests while staying within your budget. We highly recommend talking to your venue about what you’re looking for in terms of style, flavors, quantity, and more for a list of their professional recommendations, or trust us and contact our list of preferred caterers below. Then, set-up a tasting to try out the food for yourself! After all, if you love it, so will your guests.

Cakes & Desserts

Are you having a destination wedding in Luray-Page? Rather than paying the delivery fees to have your cake or dessert table transported to the valley for your big day or trusting one of your friends to bring it with them, check out our amazing and talented local vendors.

Do you want a multi-tiered wedding cake? Cupcakes for all the kids or just a cupcake cake for everyone? Or get the cake look without any cake with a tiered cookie or brownie? Are pies your partner’s thing and you want to make sure they’re some at the reception? Or would you rather have dozens of mini desserts like decorated cookies, mini pies, cake pops, macarons, and parfaits? Our vendors can design whatever you’ve been dreaming about for your wedding and deliver it to any of the local venues with low or no additional charge. Contact them to build your perfect wedding and/or dessert bar.

Carriages & Transportation

Have you always wanted to be Cinderella for your wedding? Do you want your pumpkin-turned-carriage to whisk you away from your ceremony to take you and your spouse to your reception? Whether your vision includes a team of two, a limo, or a party bus for you and the entire bridal party, Luray-Page has what you need to make the transition from ceremony to reception magical!

If you’re thinking more functional than fairytale, wagons are great for venues that are close together with only a short walk between the ceremony and reception sites. Shuttle your guests the short distance and enhance your wedding’s country chic theme. This is a great option for weddings with guests who have difficulty walking even short distances without additional assistance.

For transportation around a larger area, check out our shuttle companies. They’re great if you’re serving beer, wine, and/or mixed drinks, as it can be difficult to keep your guests safe at the end of the night. If you’d rather not add the shuttles to your wedding budget, pass the information out to your guests and suggest they band together in small groups to contact and reserve the transportation to and from their lodging themselves.

Formal Wear

They say one of the most important pieces of planning a wedding is finding the dress. Ballgown? A-line? Trumpet? Mermaid? Long or short? Something simple or blinged out? Have you been dreaming of the dress your whole life or are you lost when it comes to figuring out what you want?

What about attire for the maid or matron-of-honor and bridesmaids? Identical styles and colors? Or are you drawn to different styles of the same fabric and color? Or maybe you want similar shades of different colors?

And don’t forget about the groom and groomsmen! Will all the men be decked out in tuxes? Or would you rather go with the khakis and suspenders trend? Do you want regular suits that the guys can use later on? Or are you looking to rent a color and style just for the big day?

There’s a lot to decide when it comes to your wedding, but no matter what the circumstance, the Town of Luray and County of Page are just a short drive from multiple bridal salons that can help you with all of these aspects of dress and formal wear.

Beer, Wine, & Spirits

Beer, wine, and spirits are typically a large part of the wedding reception. From the toasts to specialty cocktails to open or cash bars, most engaged couples put thought into the adult beverages for their celebration. Having a destination wedding in Luray and Page County provides couples with a unique opportunity to highlight the area they’ve chosen for their nuptials and what better way than through local products. Purchasing from and providing your guests with beer, wine, or spirits from local businesses will also lessen the need for long-distance transportation or distribution middle-men.
